Professional Qualifications
I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Houston, a Masters degree in Community Counseling from the University of Phoenix, and a graduate certificate in HR management from Cornell University.
I am independently licensed in Washington state (LH60361756), where I have been in private practice for the last 8 years. I worked in community mental health, with a focus on Latinx and children, for over 7 years.
In addition, I am currently an affiliate faculty at Antioch University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, where I teach classes such as Trauma response, Multicultural perspective, and Counseling Latinx, as well as helping student as they complete their internships. I also created the Latinx Certificate, which is a set of classes tailored to helping counselors better understand the needs of the growing Latinx population in the U.S.
Methods
I am a trauma-informed counselor specializing in treating trauma in different stages, from complex to small ts, and am certified in EMDR and trained in Neurofeedback. I believe that creating new pathways in the brain allows for the unlocking of the wanted potential of individuals. I also use CBT and some DBT skills.
I am also a member of the Western Washington Trauma Recovery Network, which is a group of volunteer EMDR trained counselors who provide pro-bono treatment for individuals who have experience trauma.
